Old Town Albuquerque
Old Town Albuquerque is a must visit to a place where centuries of history and modern life merge. There you find 18th century architecture with narrow brick paths, world famous artwork, the finest in jewelry, delicious food and rare specialty shops offering you the creative talents of our Spanish, Native American and Anglo heritages.

A shopper's and photographer's dream. Especially beautiful during the holiday season but a must visit while in Albuquerque any time of year.

Acoma Pueblo
Sky City - the oldest continuously inhabited city in North America. Just an hour's trip west of Albuquerque. A must visit for residents or tourists.

Chaco Canyon
Chaco Canyon was a major center of ancestral Puebloan culture between AD 850 and 1250. A very special place which you just have to see. About an hour and one half west of Albuquerque.

The Sandia Peak Tram
The world's largest; climbs up one mile above Albuquerque. A great experience but best appreciated on a clear day. Be sure to take your camera and your coat as the temperature will be 30 degrees cooler than the city below.

Jemez Springs and the Jemez Mountain Trail
Just an hour or so northwest of Albuquerque is one of our favorite destinations, the village of Jemez Springs. The village has several nice places to eat, hot mineral baths, beautiful views all around. Nearby you will find the Jemez Monument, Soda Dam, Battleship Rock, Fenton Lake State Park and much more. One of the most beautiful areas in New Mexico surrounds Jemez Springs.

Bandelier National Monument
Located near Los Alamos about an hour and one-half north of Albuquerque this was the home of the Anasazi, the Ancient Ones, from 1250 to 1550 AD. You will see many well preserved cave dwellings and talus houses, plus their sacred kivas. This is something you will want to see while in New Mexico.

Salinas Pueblo Missions
Ruins of four very unique mission churches dating back to the early 1600s. Will take most of a day to see the four sites. Gran Quivira is the prize and is too magnificent for words. Plan for lunch in Mountainair.

The High Road to Taos
Drive the high road to Taos from Santa fe. This long day trip will take you to see weavers in Chimajo, historic churches in Chimayo, Los Trampas, and Ranchos de Taos. You will see Indian Pueblos, The Carson National Forest, The Pecos Wilderness. All in all a great adventure.

El Santuario de Chimayo
One of the mysteries of New Mexico. The "Lourdes of America" is an old adobe mission 40 miles northwest of Santa Fe. The dirt in the prayer room is said to have healing qualities and the room is full of letters, crutches etc. from people who attest to this. The church is beautiful, good restaurants are nearby and it is always a pleasant trip. Well worth seeing.

Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
The Bosque del Apache is know for the thousands of birds--including sandhill cranes, Artic Geese, ducks etc. that gather there each Autumn and stay throughout the winter. It is located just south of Socorro and a short, less than two hour, drive from Albuquerque. If you enjoy nature and wildlife this is a must.
